Recently, a good friend asked if I’d tried J. Mourat’s canned wines. My immediate reaction was, “Ja Morant made canned wine?!” which tells you where my head's been the last five years (basketball). Luckily, I quickly rebounded, remembering that J. Mourat’s wines were some of my favorite bottles back when “Marissa A. Ross” was only known as “Mindy Kaling’s assistant,” and I would’ve confused “Loire” for a pretentious way of pronouncing “lore.”
The answer was no, because I’ve mostly disliked drinking canned still wines (as in, not sparkling, because to know me is to know I can’t resist a carbonated beverage). Given my one working nostril, all I could ever smell while drinking canned wines was aluminum, and inevitably, that’s what I primarily tasted. I’ve gotten into arguments with winemakers over this.
